Founder and leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Mr. Kofi Akpaloo has asked the government to allow the Electoral Commission (EC) and National Identification Authority (NIA) to continue with their respective registrations.
According to Mr. Akpaloo, the two state institutions can work perfectly if we adhere to strict measures of safety and social distancing.
He believes that there is no need to create fear because of the virus but continue with work while following strict measures of safety and all COVID-19 protocol.
Mr. Akpaloo commended the president for being bold enough to lift the lockdown.
He added that the lockdown brought some benefits to the country despite its economic effects.
However, former Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Professor Agyeman Badu Akosa has expressed his disappointment in president Akufo-Addo for lifting the partial lockdown.
According to him, it is just outrageous that the president will lift the lockdown in this when the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country has shot up.
He also lamented the huge backlog of testing yet to be done saying that testing was slow because there are inadequate testing centres in the country.
